I would rather be sick

I had been trying to stay on top of this whole blog thing and keeping it current... so imagine how disappointed I am with myself that I had not gotten around to writing. But here I am.

Why might you ask have I been neglecting the blogging duties? My little monster has been vitally sick. He had such a terrible cold, coughing, stuffy nose, fever... oh and did I mention he is getting 4 teeth all at once! My poor little fellow. He started with a cough last Tuesday, so I took him to Daysi. She prescribed some anti-biotics... and than as the days went by his cold got worse. Thank goodness he had already started on the meds. So pretty much he spent ALL week sick. Neither Omar nor myself have gotten much sleep the last week... but we are slowly but surely catching up. And although he is not 100% yet, those teeth have him going nuts! He is doing much better, and starting to dance around again.

This weekend should be pretty action packed... Starting with today, Killian Baseball Banquet. Tomorrow is Kenny's birthday at Koi, Saturday is Cam's party... Sunday lunch with Javi. Sheesh... I am going to be dead. Oh and on Monday we are hoping to take the boat out FINALLY. I may be out of commission on Tuesday. I hope to have lots of fabulous pictures to share. I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday.

Why walk when you can dance!

I really don't have much to say or the time to say it for that matter... but here is Omi dancing up a storm. It is a hilarious habit he has newly acquired. When he hears music, it does not matter where he is at whether it be the beach, in his stroller at the mall with me, car... you name it--- he dances up a storm!

Best Mother's Day Ever!

Okay, so it is my first Mother's Day... so I suppose I do not have anything that could top it. But it was very nice, relaxing - just what I would have wanted it to be.

Let me start by saying that Omar made both Mother's Day and Wife's Day (we christened the day before Mother's Day Wife's Day since I am not Omar's mother... lol). So he gave me my beautiful beach bag, towel and beach hat on Saturday. Later than evening we went to dinner at Chilis- you all know I am a huge fan. It was just a nice evening, nothing over the top but still I enjoyed my night with my two boys.
Sunday was another eventful day. As planned we went to the beach with the family. My little one (purchased by the big one obviously) got me a very chic juicy bag. Omar was so excited to give it to me, how big of a wench did I feel like to kill the moment by mentioning that I was not terribly thrilled with the color. I just would hate to pretend I liked the color and never use it, I mean we are not talking about a $20 bag that I can shove inside the closet and never use. Long story short, it was exchanged today for a more practical color that matches most outfits. Back to my day... we (surprise) BBQ at the beach and spent the entire day there pretty much. Ahhhh.... how I thoroughly enjoy just lounging at the beach. Soaking in the beautiful waves roll over my body.. so therapeutic. Little O had a great time too... loved his floating lobster, but loved feeling the sand beneath his toes just as much as his momma does. Watching him walk along the beach was likely the cutest Mother's Day present I could have been gifted.

I hope every one's weekend was as pleasant as mine. And although I am pretty sure I sent every one a text, just in case Happy (Belated) Mother's Day!

Here is the video clip I had promised of Omi walking...

Sorry for the two month hiatus-

So it has been so0o0oo0 long there is simply too much to write about in order to catch you all up. I will give you a brief break down.

Our Cuba trip was FABULOUS. We had a very nice time. I spent loads of time with both families, Omar's and the family I had never met from my mother's side. It was quite an experience, no words could truly describe how magical it was to experience being on the motherland. Little man of course had a wonderful time as well. True he will most likely remember nothing of his first plane flight, much less of Cuba. We did take him to the beach and he loved it! Here is a little morsel of him enjoying himself on one of his outings.

Once we returned home, I had the unfortunate luck of becoming very ill. Not just common cold sick, I mean horribly sick. I ended up spending six days at the hospital. NO FUN! They are still not 100% sure what I had. But they know what it wasn't... so I guess that is kind of good.

I got out of the hospital just in time too! I was able to see my little pumpkin enjoy his first Easter. He actually loved playing with the plastic eggs, although I know he was clueless as to what the point of their existence was. He even found an egg or two in the egg hunt! Of course, with a little of daddy's help... but he DID get them himself! Next year's Easter should be so much fun, walking and running around with the other cousins looking for eggs. I can't wait to see my monster get up and go!

Besides, the fun stuff I have also had some work piling on my plate. As usual I am enjoying my hobby turn mini business. Plus of course... the highly anticipated Sesame Street extravaganza- LMAO!!! Nah, all kidding aside I have found myself pretty busy with baking and preparing things for Omi's birthday. I cannot believe he is almost one year old already! I feel like I was just pregnant yesterday.

Oh! And although I had been fighting it with all my might--- we took Omi to get his first hair cut. I really wanted to not do it, I was in love with his baby curls. However I was convinced by his newly acquired uncontrollable bed head that it was over due. When he would wake from his naps and sleeping it was just impossible to control. So Omar and I took him to get a trim. He was so good. He loved it, the scissors apparently tickled him, which is the only time he would squirm (with the assistance of a lollipop of course). Other than that... he did spectacular.

Oh my goodness I almost forgot the most spectacular new development I have!!! He started walking. I have been told that from here on out all peace in the household will be lost. But I am so proud of him, and excited to watch him develop more and more each day. I have some clips of him stumbling around but I still need to sort through them. I feel like I have been out of it for so long. And instead of just skipping the months that passed I wanted to make sure that everyone was semi caught up.

Before I forget, today my little darling pumpkin turns 11 months. They have just flown by--- how crazy is that.

Whoa--- that was a lot. And to think I skipped over some parts!

On your mark get set- CRY!

Every year Baptist Hospital hosts a crawling derby. We thought it would be fun for little man to participate. He is such an advent crawler... he for sure would be a top runner. And the event went as follows, we got there little man started to crawl all over the place showing off. Clearly he was the top crawler, fastest, best.... very dedicated. However it turns out our little guy is a choke artist! When it came down to it, and all the spec taters began to cheer Omi bawled. Not just bawled, he turned towards grandma and grabbed on for dear life... enjoy the tiny clips and pics.

More BBQing it up---

I cannot stress how much we enjoy BBQs. And we have apparently infected our friends with the BBQ virus. For Raulitos birthday, Darlene organized a very fun BBQ at the park. Scrumptious food, fabulous cake (hmmm... mine- lol), and yes an impromptu somewhat distorted game of baseball. It was great and I actually ran, and of course almost busted my bubble. Running and I do not mix... apparently running does not mix with Darlene either. However, in our defense we were wearing chancs plus there were so many leaves that the ground was unfavorably slippery. I am sure that tomorrow we will all have lovely war scars to parade around town. Little man slept for most of the afternoon, so mommy and daddy were able to soak in the fun baby free for a bit. Plus we had a sea of babysitters eagerly waiting for him to wake up. Here are some pictures of our fun outing!

Free Country as long as you don't have to go to Cuba-

For a couple of years now my father- in- law has been telling us how for his 50th birthday he wants us all to go to Cuba. I always agreed, I have been wanting to go to the motherland for a while. But today is became a little more real... I got the "ok" from the US to visit Cuba. So we are one step closer. If all goes well we will all be Artemisa- bound (the little town BOTH our families are from) March 25. I'm pretty excited about being able to FINALLY see where my parents and grandparents grew up. I have always secretly envied my non- Cuban friends and their being able to travel freely to where they are from. I really did not imagine to be this jittery--- but I am. And more so I am already contemplating where I would like to visit and what I will have time to see. I do not even officially have my ticket yet--- but am so excited and just the thought all of the history I will finally be able to encounter.
