Its been 1095 days!

(**This post was a little delayed... but meant to be posted on Jan 7**)

For those of you not good at math (like myself) 1095 days = 3 years!!! Which now that I analyze it, it should be 1096 because last year was a leap year. But I digress... Its been 3 years since Omi and I got hitched! Isn't that absolutely absurd? Time seems to be just flying by.

Last year seemed like such a milestone because we were pregnant and just overwhelmed with the blessing. Anyone who knows us knows how much we wanted a baby. Oh my goodness, how much did I pray for a little one... its indescribable. I remember such details of my pregnancy... the first time I felt Omar kick, January 23. Isn't that nuts??? Omar and I both agree, the happiest day of our marriage was when we found out I was pregnant. Just knowing that it was possible and how long we had wanted to conceive, all our future children will be blessings but just knowing that first time--- that memory can never be replaced.

So I am sure everyone is tired of hearing the Falcon story... LOL!!! But let me get nostalgic for a moment or two. I am a firm believer that everyone who you encounter in your life is placed there for a reason. It affects your future decisions, encounters, etc. So why on earth would Middle School be any different??? Yes, it was there that our silly little story began. Who would think that I would have married my 6th grade boyfriend?? Not to mention that for a while there I had broken my mother's heart and told her I was boycotting marriage all together. I was perfectly happy with living with someone and not getting married, what difference would it make etc, etc ,etc. And than it happened!!! Mr. Falcon managed to wiggle his way into my life after never seeing each other since 8th grade. Imagine, 10 years later pretty much... some pompous know it all is trying to talk to me at Gatsbys. HA HA HA !!! Not the easiest of tasks, but it happened. I really did know that I would marry him, I just knew. It didn't take long to commit for either of us. Mid January we started dating, and by dating I mean he slept over the condo and never left until come March when spring training rolled around. Come April we were engaged, long courtship eh? Again, when you know you just know.

Long story short--- come Jan of the following year we were married.

There have been good times, fabulous times and not so glamorous... but they have all been our memories. We've moved from state to state with each other, supported each other's decisions, gone on spur of the moment vacations, had dozens of silly borderline- retarded moments, finished school (Yvette) and started school (Omar), survived hurricanes and college algebra... and our greatest achievement the birth of our son. In just three short years we have climbed so many obstacles and have been successful. I could not imagine anyone else by my side that I could accomplish it all with. Omar you always tell me how I give you the strength that you lack, but the truth is you make me that stronger person. I look forward to many more years of bliss...

When tackiness strikes

I'm assuming that anyone and everyone reading this entry is likely to think I am quite the materialistic one--- but not so. Ok, so I know everyone has a "style" that they call their own. Or not everyone is privileged to have the means to purchase designer brand clothing--- and that is not what this small entry is about.

First--- sorry H-town, spandex is not for everyone. And truthfully it is quite outdated as well. Ladies, I am the first who is not a fan of ironing/ straightening out the hair everyday. I down right hate combing my hair--- lol. However, if you decide to go out in public, PLEASE either pull it back in a ponytail, bun, something! No need to go out and about looking like a dirty q-tip with your hair looking a hot mess. On Saturday while out at Sandbar we encountered a girl/ woman with troll-like features prancing about. The hair was awful, yet nothing a bit of frizz-ease couldn't have taken care of.

Now both ladies and gentleman, lets discuss attire. Not everyone can pull off "skinny" jeans, I for one am boycotting them. More so because I am not skinny and feel that I do not merit the right to wear skinny jeans. Chunky girls unite and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE move away from the skinny jeans. Now boys, jean jackets are out--- I repeat... jean jackets are out!!! Please bury them in the back of your closets if you insist on keeping them and bring them out when they peak again.

Being trendy does not mean spending 100s or 1000s of dollar on clothing. There are quite a bit of discount retailers out there who have descent things. Target has definitely stepped it up for the frugal shoppers out there. I am guilty of purchasing leggings there as opposed to macys and saving a buck or two. Ross, Marshalls, etc... all there to help. So why oh why do some people insist of just buying things that do not appeal to anyone's body much less their own? Skinny girls, not everything believe it or is flattering... clothes that is too loose make you look like tooth pick with an olive on it. Too tight, I don't believe looks too good on anyone thin or heavy. Also, I almost forgot... for those of us who have put on a couple of extra pounds (I say us because I include myself BIG time) do not be scared to purchase some SPANX. Great investment and will run you about $40 at Nordstrom. Helps immensely with the muffin top issue.

Hmmm... now I know there was more that I felt I needed to speak my mind about, but since I did not write it down they have slipped my mind. However be prepared to read another random rant similar to this one in the near future. Also, I hope this did not hurt anyone's feelings or come across as too mean.

Sorry for the lies

Before I begin my rant, I would like to say that if I had wanted the pups to stay still for that picture it would have never happened. The actually just posed themselves, it was suppose to be a picture of just big and little Omar. Turned out to be the cutest picture (minus me of course). I may just photoshop myself into the picture to complete the portrait!

So while we were away I thought I could resist and not be online. Who was I kidding. Sad really, when bored and nothing else to do- our faithful Internet is there to save the day- lol. It has been great though, beyond relaxing and quite therapeutic.

It has not been too cold, but a fabulous change of weather. Today is probably the ugliest day, rainy and super foggy. Yesterday we decided we go snow tubing up in Maggie Valley only to make the hour and a half drive and find out they were sold out until 8 pm. No fun what-so-ever. So little man will not see snow this vacation.. which is not like he will remember so I'm not terribly upset. Although how awesome would the photo-op have been ;o)

We have been out of town for less than a week and little man has done so much! When the abuelos, tio, and tia see him they may not recognize him. He has grown a foot, a mustache, talking... ha ha ha I joke. Another tooth has sprouted up top, and it appears another is shortly to follow. Crawling is also another phenomena which has occurred. He is getting around so fast it is unbelievable. Pig ears have become one of his favorite treats... LMAO!!! I mean not that we give them to him ,they are Peanut and Coco's chew toys. But he seems to always manage to position himself close enough to get hold of one. Oh and I almost forgot, he is starting to pull himself up! He can barely sit himself up on his own but is trying to stand up. It is surreal how quickly he is growing up.

As I look on facebook and see all the different status quotes about how wretched 2008 was and don't understand it. Yes I know, economy down right stinks... we've lost money in stocks-- but were so blessed. Our perfect little person came into our lives in 2008 and I could not be more grateful for him. I do not remember what life was like before he was born... I know the for some people 08 may have stunk, but mine could not have been more celestial.

I will be posting more pictures from North Carolina and going into more detail about our days on the next post. The crappy part about coming up to the cabin is that no one picks up after you- lol. We'll be leaving tomorrow... so gotta start laundry and cleaning the house.

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe new year. Many blessings for the upcoming year. Love, The Falcon Five

Pictures Galore!!!

So I had promised on my last post I would have loads of pictures for y'all... and I surely did not lie! I'll start off with our Noche Buena (evening before Christmas, HUGE Cuban dinner). We didn't take many, but there are a few of little man and us.

And of course, here are the Christmas pics... he had such a great time. I did not think he would enjoy it as much as he did since he was so young. But he actually got into the whole unwrapping thing and LOVED playing with all his new stuff!!!

Happy Holidays from Podunk Miami

Happy- Happy- Happy Holidays!!!! First and foremost, I hope everyone had a spectacular and safe Christmas! Ours was great! Full of loads of quality family time and memorable events.

As you all know it was Omar's first Christmas and I think he enjoyed it. At first it was a bit overwhelming for him. Just as he was done unwrapping a present and set to play with it, it was taken away and another wrapped present was plopped in front of him. For a moment he got pretty annoyed and got a little fussy.... but other than that--- he was awesome.

The holidays brought back loads of usual family traditions, Noche Buena with our roasted pork, Yuca, Christmas at my Aunt's house... my grandparents coming over Christmas morning. It also brought along quite a bit of work, which is welcomed believe it or not. I ended up staying up all night on the 23rd finishing up cakes just so I would not have to do anything on the 24th. Although I had a total of about 3 hours, it was well worth it.

I am so excited about leaving on vacation to NC next week. We haven't been up to the cabin in over a year, so it will be great to go. It will be nice to get a change of season and just do nothing for a couple of days. I can't wait!!!!

I want to also apologize, I will not be posting any pictures just yet. I will go ahead and do that tomorrow when I'm a bit more rested. Just wanted to wish everyone a great holidays and loads of love!!! -- ((Hugs)) The Falcon Family

Merry what??? Where did Thanksgiving go!

So I know I do not have to state the obvious. Been a while, been busy, holidays, bad blogger blah blah blah.... so lets get on with it.

I feel like so much has occurred since my last post, wasn't I still pregnant? HA HA HA... I joke. Let me see, I will start by talking about our Thanksgiving and work my way to present time. This may be the entry of all entries when it comes to length. If you don't have at least 3 hours it may take more than one visit (JUST KIDDING!).

So weeks before Thanksgiving we had planned to go over to Omar's best friend/ Little O's godfather's house. Both sides of the fam-bam would be there. I was taking Javi a birthday cake, Pedro was frying the turkey, my mom was baking a ham... So like most things in our lives, Thanksgiving did not go as we had planned. Something came up last minute (I am talking Wednesday) and the Arteagas would not be able to host Thanksgiving. So my poor in-laws would have to rush to the market to pick out whatever turkey was not 100lbs and prey it would defrost in time! We ended up doing Thanksgiving at Omi's parent's house. Less people than originally expected... but quaint and lovely. Both sets of grandparents, tio, tia, etc and our little family were there. I posted some pictures on fb and ms... but I'll post a video of our little pilgrim on here so you can catch him getting his first taste of turkey!

As usual day of Thanksgiving was fun. Tradition is I always go out shopping that day. I try to get most of the presents out of the way... and as usual I did. This year was so0o0o much more fun though. The first year I get to shop for my own little one! It was so exciting, thinking of all the fun toys to get him, not just fun but I tried to pick out things which would help him developmentally and somewhat educational. And to think, he'll likely enjoy the wrapping paper and boxes more than the actual presents! We also put up our tree that weekend as well... which was cute for him to watch I think. He was absolutely mesmerized by the lights... loves watching them. While we were putting them up outside we sat him in his little baby Einstein chair and he was loving being surrounded by all the lighting.

I feel like Omar has hit so many milestones in this past month alone. I had read that 6 months was a huge developmental turning point... but he is a bit ahead. Not crawling yet, but he is already scooting and lifting up his butt and almost has it down. He is eating foods with more consistency. Broke his mother's heart... his first word was Papa. Later he said Mama, but the initial blow was hard to cope with. Below I will go ahead and post massive amounts of pictures and video clip. If you listen carefully (my mommy's out there I'm pretty sure you'll hear it) you can hear papa and mama. Bath time is so much fun now too!! He splashes up a storm and loves playing in the water. Reminds me of a little bird in a bird bath... too cute.

Christmas is just around the corner and I can't wait. I feel like it has been so long since I have such eagerness for the holidays. When little Omar came into our lives I knew it would magical... and everything would have a different meaning, but this is just surreal. I think back on how much both Omar and I wanted a little one in our lives... how much I prayed for the blessing. Incredible that just 6 short months later, I cannot remember I life without him in it. Just today I had to take him to the dr because he has a bit of a cold... stuffing nose and coughing, had to get it taken care of. Its so silly, but as I sat there waiting for Daysi I was staring at this precious little perfect person. I looked at my tummy and thought oh my goodness, he was in there a little over 6 months ago, got a little teary eyed and than got over it (lol).

As most of you know, the cake world has been busy as well. Holidays have been good to me so far I must admit. Have had steady business which is always nice. So imagine what a curve ball it was for us when Omar's agent called and asked if Omar was interested in playing again. CARAZY.... we had discussed it a bit ago, but him having taken a year hiatus we never imagined it was truly a possibility. I guess he has someone fooled ;o) So now we need to sit and wait and see how it all pans out. I am hoping he signs again... he still gets that itch. Those of you in the business know what I am talking about. I knew he had hung up his cleats, but I was never convinced he put them away. Now is the time to try again... while Omi is young and not in school yet. Of course, as always we shall follow. Should be interesting if it does happen... us, Omi, Peanut and Coco... if anything the drive I'm sure will be eventful! But nothing is concrete, and the season seems so far from now... I try not to think about it. Although I am secretly excited. Check out these throw backs, I actually found them on flickr... odd the things people have pictures of!!!!

I will go ahead and just post some random pictures of us and little man out and about....

I will try my hardest for the next entry to be soon!
